ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Pam, 52 years young, married to Nick and have 2 grown up girls. I live in Allington, Maidstone.  For the past 30 years or so I have worked in an office within the finance industry.  Deep down I always wanted to be a Doula, but life got in the way, and I didn’t have the time to train for this remarkable vocation. Recently I was thrown a curve ball which changed my career path for the good, the Doula training began!

In my eyes a Doula is the most wonderful & remarkable woman. As a Doula, I will be there to provide emotional support and guidance to all pregnant persons before, during and after their birth.  Giving birth is magical. My main objective is to ensure a safe and stress-free birthing experience.  It is important to me for the pregnant person to feel fully supported during the whole process. I will also be focusing on the emotional and physical parts of labour and the postpartum recovery period.

Some people simply want someone around who they know and trust during labour. I can be your only birth partner or may form part of your birth team alongside your partner.

Every birth story is different, and the birthing and parenting choices made are unique. My job as your Doula is to protect and advocate for your wishes.  I believe everyone deserves a safe, supported, positive birth and postnatal experience, and the opportunity to give their baby the best possible start.

I’m available to cover births in Kent and East Sussex. Will always be within 90 minutes.

Training completed with Nurturing Birth Doula Training.

What is a Doula?

A Doula, from the Ancient Greek word meaning Slave, is a non-medical professional who provides emotional and physical support to mothers before, during and after childbirth. They help women to have a safe and empowering birthing experience, ensuring they feel supported throughout the whole process.  Doula’s can also help support the partner and other siblings, as this new life enters the world..

What are the benefits of a Doula:

Short labour times – reduced duration*

Lower caesarean rates – fewer surgeries*

Fewer interventions – natural process*

Less pain medication – pain management*

Greater satisfaction – improved experience*

Lower postpartum depression – mental health*

Lower NICU admissions – infant health*

Birth doulas support you during your pregnancy, birth and in the immediate postnatal time, while postnatal doulas provide flexible support to you after your baby is born. Some doulas offer both types of support. * Sources - Doula UK, Natural Birth Directory
